Summer in the Rearview Mirror

Fall’s cool crept up on us–the days grow warm, sometimes even hot, but the nights drop away into the fresh cold air of autumn. The outdoor pool remains open(!), making for invigorating swimming, lap after lap, as I attempt to out swim the cold water. Above the cloudfest continues as the trees begin their turning. And yet. . . this morning what a surprise when the hibiscus out front decided to fling all she has at the encroaching end of the year–five blossoms all of a sudden. Nevertheless I see summer in my rearview mirror, sliding away.
