It started late this year–the cold held back the flowers and the leaves. But now the heat comes in diffidently, then boldly, and with it verdant green everywhere. Oaks and maples and ginkgoes across the way, and thorn bushes and tangles of weeds along a creek. The green creeps out into the water. One starts to think of swimming holes and late night talks outside wrapped in humid air. I look into reflections in the water and want to slip into the unfocused world I see. Summer is almost here.
